Itinerary

The best is yet to come!

  • Day 1: Humantay Lake
    • This trip to Humantay Lake is a full-day adventure. It requires 3 hours of driving each way and 4 hours of hiking. The day begins very early in the morning with a departure from your hotel in Cusco. From the historic center, we embark on a two-hour drive along paved roads to Mollepata, followed by one hour on dirt roads to Soraypampa.
    • Your hike to Humantay Lake begins in Soraypampa and takes you to the historic site of Limatambo at almost 7,000 feet in elevation. It is an important archeological site, once used by the Inca Empire as a gateway to Cusco. Here, you’ll see the archeological ruins of Tarawasi, a rest area for those en route to Chichaysuyo.
    • After visiting the ruins, the hike continues along the banks of the Apurimac River and up the Salkantay Mountain towards Humantay Lake.
    • After about 1-2 hours of hiking, the ascent reaches the banks of the spectacular Humantay Lake surrounded by glaciers and Andean peaks. You will have time to rest, eat your packed lunch, soak up the views, and take photos before returning down the mountain.
    • The return hike to Sorayampa is a steep downhill hike that takes approximately 2 hours.
    • From Sorayampa, our transportation takes the same 3-hour drive back and returns to the hotel.
    • Details of the Humantay Lake Hike:
      • Distance: 3 miles (5 km)
      • Ascent: 1.5 miles (2.5 km)
      • Descent: 1.5 miles (2.5 km)
      • Minimum altitude:12, 713 feet (3,875 meters)
      • Maximum altitude:13,800 feet (4,200 meters)
      • Duration: 4-5 hours
      • Difficulty level: 3/5.
  • Day 2: Sacred Valley and Moray
    • The adventure will begin at 08:00 a.m. We will pick you up at your hotel and start the journey to Chinchero while you enjoy the wonderful view.
    • In Chinchero, a small and picturesque Andean town, you will be able to enter the house of a textile artisan, where you will appreciate his original works and learn about his techniques and creative process.
    • Then you will visit the important Inca archaeological center of the town, built at the end of the 15th century, and you will also have a panoramic view of its beautiful and traditional church.
    • We will continue to delve into the world of the Incas in Moray, a site used as an agricultural research center and laboratory.
    • Then, on our way to Ollantaytambo, we will stop at a viewpoint to enjoy one of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Get your camera ready!
    • At noon, we will stop at a local restaurant where you can have lunch and enjoy Peruvian cuisine (included).
    • Finally, we will arrive at Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire and one of the few places where the Spanish conquerors lost an important battle. Well known for its terraces, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress that also served as a temple.
    • Approximately 8 hours later you will arrive at the hotel to rest and recharge your energy for the Machu Picchu adventure.
  • Day 3: Machu Picchu
    • Today is the day to visit this great wonder of the world and begin an unforgettable day.
    • You will have time to have breakfast and check-out before starting the adventure.
